[NEW MUSIC] DJ Drama “We in this Bitch 1.5” (Don’t Call it a Remix) [AUDIO]
Don’t call it a remix!!! Dj Drama has no quit, Drama explains how the “We In This B*tch 1.5” came together.
With the new “We In This B*tch 1.5” anthem currently circulating online, Atlanta’s DJ Drama recently explained how the remixed track came together and why Young Money’s Drake was a perfect fit.
“As I was working on the video, around that time–as a DJ, we’re always thinking about remixes, I don’t know why–but I thought about [how] it would be hard to remix the record respectfully with such an originally all-star line up,” Dram explained to XXLMag.com. “So when the thought came about, clearly the record started with Future, and I definitely wanted to give him an opportunity to rock on it and put a verse. When it came down to really thinking what would make sense, I spoke to Drake and wanted to see if he would be interested in rockin’ on the record, and he was with it. He sent me back a killer verse. Seeing as Future was on the original, and Drake who’s a pretty popular guy these days, I didn’t necessarily wanna call it a remix, but 1.5–a little step.” (XXL Mag)
This week, Drama also spoke on Drake practically murdering his verse.
“When you have a record like that and [you want] to add onto it, there’s not a lot of things you could do,” he said. “[Drake] came with a monster verse, [and he’s] another young, fresh talent, somebody out here that I look at the same way I look at Meek, who’s really keeping hip-hop culture moving forward, so I felt it was only best.” (MTV)
Recently, Barack O’Drama talked to SOHH about how the original record came together.
“It’s always the people that make the decision [on how good something is], but I definitely knew I had something special,” Drama told SOHH, “and even the way the record came together, you know, it had no other choice but to be special. From me getting the beats from Kane [Beatz], which took about a year, to the idea of the hook coming to me and giving it to Future, with the space that he’s in right now. And then me getting Tip, Jeezy and Luda on one record, what it means to Atlanta and me repping for the city and me making that vision. It definitely is a special record and I’m glad to be a part of it. It’s exciting, especially for what it means to the culture.” (SOHH)
The music video officially premiered online last weekend.
ATL stand up. DJ Drama teams with Young Jeezy, T.I., Ludacris, and Future in the video for “We in This B*tch,” the first single off his upcoming album Quality Street Music. The Atlanta rappers perform against different colored backdrops in the Benny Boom-directed clip. “We gonna do a classic, kinda ‘Flava in Ya Ear’ throwback video,” said Boom. “We wanted to do something epic performance-wise. You got the best in ATL coming together all on one track, so we wanted to make sure that we did things phenomenally.” (Rap-Up)
