Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has revealed past work on a love-themed solo album he put together while serving time behind bars in 2010 on a gun conviction.

While it is uncertain whether or not Weezy will drop the LP, he did dish out some details surrounding its concept.

“I was also recording an album at the same time called Devol, spelled D-E-V-O-L because that’s ‘loved’ spelled backwards,” the Young Money rapper told DJ Amanda Seales. “And this is my version of love songs. And what I mean by my version of love songs is meaning they’re not saying I love you. I’m just saying, you know, you know. And it’s all material I did while I was locked up.” (Hip Hop POV)

Later this year, Wayne will put out a memoir detailing his eight-month experience behind bars.

Lil Wayne is offering a literary tour of his prison days. The million-selling rapper has signed with Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, for the memoir “Gone Till November.” Hachette announced Thursday that the book will tell of his eight months spent at the Rikers Island complex on a gun possession charge. Scheduled to come out in November, two years after his release, the book will be an “internal monologue,” based on diaries he kept while in prison. (The Washington Post)

During his stint behind bars, Wayne kept fans updated with occasional open letters.

“As I greet you all in my last days on this island, I must reflect. I think back to when I first arrived and I had no clue of what I’d be experiencing. I was never scared, worried, nor bothered by the situation. For that, I thank God, my family, and you, my amazing fans. I prayed for you all every night, as I’m aware that I was in your prayers as well. The very first day that I received mail, it was about 300 pieces or more! I smiled like a child of Christmas. But when I began to read them, my heart smiled. I laughed with some of you, reasoned with some of you, and even cried with some of you. I responded to as many of you that time would allow. I plan to keep reading and responding after my release. I thank you all for being so very supportive, as I never imagined how much impact my words and life can have. With this knowledge, I vow to continue to be me! For you have assured time that I don’t have to change for no one but God. I will be the same Martian I was when I left, just better. You fans are more than amazing, and I will for to the end of the world for your love. This isn’t the last of weezythanxyou.com I will continue to thank you when I’m home.” (Weezy Thanx You)

A day after his November 2010 release, Wayne flew to New Orleans to watch his hometown NBA basketball team play against the Miami Heat.

Lil Wayne turned up courtside in red baseball cap and long dreadlocks to watch the unbeaten New Orleans Hornets edge the Miami Heat 96-93 Friday night, a day after his release from a New York City jail. Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., was freed Thursday after serving eight months in a gun case. Asked how it felt to be back, Wayne told the The Times-Picayune: “Like I never left.” (The Associated Press)
